Three Kenworths in the PKY Truck Beauty Championship at the Mid-America Trucking Show last month were recognized as the “Top Three Kenworths in the Show” by the truck manufacturer.

The trucks honored were a 2014 Kenworth W900L, a 1995 Kenworth W900 and a 2008 Kenworth W900L.

The 2014 W900L is owned by Mark Hollen, owner of Denver Truck Painting in Pennsylvania. The rebuild of the truck, named “She Gives Me the Blues,” took more than 3,000 hours. In addition to being named on of the Top Three Kenworths at the show, it was also named the People’s Choice Award winner.

“The team put a lot of time into this truck, so I’m glad it was well-received at MATS,” said Hollen. “I added some unique touches to the truck, like installing a 1980 Kenworth W900A flat dash, something I know no one else would do. Every detail counts in a competition like this.”

Chad and Lisa Berry, owners of Berry Trucking out of Medford, Wisconsin, own the 1995 W900 named “Money for Nothing.” Lisa Berry said the list of customizations to the truck is extensive, but includes a new hood, sleeper, interior and a rebuilt engine.

“Chad and I, along with some family members did all the work on the truck,” she said. “When you build a truck that you envisioned and put in all the work into, it makes being recognized by Kenworth as one of the Top Three Kenworths that much more rewarding.”

Finally, James and Malona Williams, owners of J&L Contracting out of Springfield, Missouri, earned a Top Three Kenworths award with their 2008 W900L named “Never Satisfied.” The truck is coupled with a 2019 Etnyre lowboy trailer and won Best of Show Combo at MATS along with the award from Kenworth.

“The Kenworth W900L was a fun project for us,” said James Williams. “Many hours went into working on the truck, and it was well worth it. We received numerous positive comments on our W900L at MATS, and the judges of the championship appreciated our truck as well.”

Each of the three winners, accompanied by a guest, won all-expenses paid trips to Kenworth’s Chillicothe, Ohio, assembly plant. During the event, they will receive a tour of the plant, a chance to drive the new Kenworth W990 and more.
