Cowboy State of mind: SuperRigs kicks off in Wyoming

The 41st annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs officially got under way Thursday in Gillette, Wyoming, at the city's big Cam-Plex multi-purpose facility.

The show doesn't have the turnout that's come to be expected at SuperRigs events through the years, but it's certain that the quality of the competition is as high as ever.

Below, see a sampling of the rigs on hand for the show.

Barry Kasdorf's 2023 Peterbilt 389XJade Transport company driver Barry Kasdorf is showing the fleet's 2023 Peterbilt 389X. It's outfitted with numerous custom touches from Shift Products, which is owned by the sons of the owner of Jade Transport.

Truett Novosad's 'Doc Holliday'Texas-based Equipment Express owner Truett Novosad is showing his 2007 Peterbilt 379, "Doc Holliday."

Truett Novosad's 'Troublemaker'"Troublemaker" is another 2007 Peterbilt 379 owned by Novosad and Equipment Express.

Daniel and Phyllis Snow's 1996 Freightliner XLA perennial SuperRigs contender -- Daniel and Phyllis Snow's 1996 Freightliner Classic XL, "The Goose," is on hand.

Rob Harris' 2022 Kenworth W900LRob Harris, owner of Wisconsin-based Extreme Transportation Specialized, is showing his 2022 Kenworth W900L, "Not Too Blue 2." The truck features PPG Harlequin color-changing paint on the front and rear fenders, as well as parts of the interior.

J.R. Schleuger's 1984 Kenworth W900BJ.R Scheuger showed off his latest build -- a 1984 Kenworth W900B. He acquired the truck a year ago and rebuilt it using parts from his Lifetime Nut Covers business.

Jake Bast's 2001 Peterbilt 379Idaho-based Jake Bast has made this 2001 Peterbilt 379 his own during his eight years of ownership, including the hand-painted flames on the hood and along the frame that were done by a close friend.

Mark and Payton Aragon's 2003 Peterbilt 379LaSalle, Colorado-based father-son duo Mark and Payton Aragon have built this 2003 Peterbilt 379, "Slammed Distraction," over the last three years. Mark is driving the truck in a local livestock operation until Payton comes of age to drive it.

Nichole 'Nikki' Cheek's 2008 Peterbilt 389Wyoming-based Nichole "Nikki" Cheek owns this 2008 Peterbilt 389, which recently got a new paint job in honor of her father, who owned and drove the truck before she did.
