After three weeks of increases, the national average retail price of diesel rose dipped less than a penny to $3.887 a gallon in the latest week, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
Average prices were mixed. The East Coast, Lower Atlantic, Midwest and Gulf Coast fell in prices ranging up to 2 cents a gallon. California increased 5 cents to $4.213, while New England, Central Atlantic, Rocky Mountain and West rose by up to 1.9 cents.
Over the previous three weeks, the national average price had risen 17.1 cents. The national average price is 77.1 cents higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
