Car haulers have a new equipment option with Freightliner Trucks’ recent announcement of its 122SD Sleeper Auto Hauler, which was developed in partnership with Fontaine Modification Company.

The new configuration for the severe duty truck is 18 inches shorter than the original 122SD, the company says. Fontaine dropped the cab five inches closer to the chassis, then designed a new roof structure that cut 13 inches from the cab height. When ordered with the car hauler-specific chassis option, the truck is approximately 100 inches tall.

The 122SD is available with Detroit DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines with up to 600 horsepower, as well as the Cummins ISX15.

The truck manufacturer cited customer feedback as the driving force behind adding the new option for car haulers. Contact your local Freightliner dealer for more information on the trucks.
