Montgomery Transport assets up for auction
Tiger Group has announced the first auction in a series of liquidation sales of trucks, tractors and other assets formerly owned by Mongomery Transport, which closed suddenly this past fall.
Bidding is underway in the SoldTiger.com auction, which closes on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. Central. The assets are stored in Alabama, Indiana and Mississippi.
"Healthy operators in the U.S. transportation sector will find solid opportunities in this sale, including Peterbilt 579 premium sleeper truck tractors, all from 2019 or later," said Chad Farrell, Managing Director, Tiger Commercial & Industrial.
In addition to those Peterbilt 579s, the trucks and vehicles available at auction include:
- (14) 53-foot flatbed trailers from Reitnouer and Fontaine (2011–2017)
- 2017 Kenworth T680 sleeper truck/tractor
- 2018 Chevy Silverado Z71 4Ă—4 pickup
- 2017 Chevy Express passenger van
- 2007 Chevy pickup trailers
- Utility trailer and 48-foot reefer trailer
Bidders will find material-handling shop equipment such as a Hyster 15,000-pound forklift; a Briggs & Stratton 100-kw generator (natural gas); shipping containers; air hydraulic axle jacks; a 12-ton shop press; a tire-inflation system; a refrigerated air dryer with drum pump and drain carts; an R-134A refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging machine; and a central pneumatic 30-gallon air compressor and receiver tank.
In addition, Montgomery Transport maintained a large selection of parts for maintenance and repair. The sale features new and used truck and tractor tires; a Sturdy-Lite headache rack; windshields; fuel tanks; axles; radiators; hubs; hoses; wheels; brackets; racks; tarps, and work gloves.

Finally, available office furniture, equipment and other assets include electronic standing desks, cubicles, chairs, conference rooms, reception and break rooms, lockers, laptops, monitors, phone systems and office supplies.
"Montgomery Transport had assets all over the Southeast and Midwest, and Tiger does anticipate conducting additional sales as part of this receiver-ordered liquidation. Interested bidders should stay tuned," Farrell said.

Three drivers named 2025 Highway Angels of the Year
The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has named three truck drivers -- Terry Walde of Searcy Trucking Ltd., Deshown Moye of Melton Truck Lines, and Heather Barkey of Nussbaum Transportation -- as the 2025 TCA Highway Angels of the Year.
The announcement follows a public vote that recognized their acts of courage, compassion and professionalism on the road.
The three drivers will be formally recognized during the Awards Luncheon on Monday, March 2, held in conjunction with TCA’s Annual Convention in Orlando.
Here are the remarkable stories of the 2025 TCA Highway Angels of the Year:
Terry Walde was traveling eastbound on Highway 1 in Saskatchewan on May 27, 2025, when he came upon debris scattered across the roadway. Moments later, he discovered a severely injured cyclist who had been struck by a semi-truck in a hit-and-run accident. Without hesitation, Walde stopped to render aid, ensured the cyclist was alive and breathing, and communicated critical injury details to emergency responders. Recognizing the ongoing danger posed by passing traffic, Walde directed vehicles around the scene for several hours until authorities arrived. Dashcam footage provided by Searcy Trucking later helped law enforcement apprehend and charge the responsible driver.
Deshown Moye was driving through Alabama on April 28, 2025, when he encountered the aftermath of a devastating multi-vehicle crash on I-65. A small sedan had been violently pushed beneath a tractor-trailer, leaving its driver critically injured and trapped inside. Moye immediately stopped, assessed the scene for hazards, and called 911 before rushing to assist the injured woman. With the vehicle smoking and the driver in extreme distress, Moye stabilized her injuries, carefully relieved pressure from her seatbelt with her consent, and remained by her side for nearly 45 minutes, providing comfort and reassurance until emergency responders arrived. His steady presence and quick thinking played a vital role in keeping the victim alive during a life-threatening emergency.
Heather Barkey was nearing her terminal in Mount Vernon, Illinois, late in the evening on June 18, 2025, when she noticed a truck that had rolled over along the roadway. Seeing that no one else had stopped, she pulled over, activated her hazard lights, and called 911. The overturned truck was smoking and leaking fuel, and the driver was trapped inside. Using a flashlight she had on hand, Barkey broke the window, enabling the driver to escape before conditions worsened. She remained on the scene until law enforcement arrived and confirmed the driver was safe.
Each of the 2025 Highway Angels of the Year will receive a complimentary EpicVue satellite TV package, including a 24-inch television, DVR, and a one-year subscription to DirecTV programming.
