Kenworth C580 -- full spec, views on the 1M-lb. heavy hauler

In the video up top, Overdrive sister publication CCJ editor Jason Cannon walks viewers through spec options for Kenworth's C580, replacing the legendary C500 after 50 years of production.

The extreme-duty rig was unveiled at the ConExpo-Con/Agg equipment trade show last month to much fanfare and with a boatload of details about configuration for the unit, expected to enter production early next year.

The extreme-duty powerhouse C580 is expcted to come standard with Cummins X15 engines with ratings up to 605 hp and 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque. Likewise: Kenworth’s full suite of transmission offerings, including manual, Allison 4000 and 6000 Series automatics, and -- for the first time in this duty segment -- the advanced Eaton Endurant XD Pro automated transmission.
