The legislation, introduced by California Sen. Nancy Skinner, whose district includes Oakland and Berkeley, would require a 40 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and an 80 percent GHG reduction by 2050.

Mack recalls nearly 4,000 trucks over mirror issue, Carrier recalls nearly 4,000 APUs
The Mack recall affects approximately 3,906 Mack Anthem, Granite and Pinnacle trucks over an issue with the passenger side door down-view mirror. Carrier is recalling 3,855 APUs over a ground wire issue, while Stoughton is recalling over 2,000 dry vans and Trail King is recalling 80 step deck trailers.

Legislation to require side underride guards on trailers reintroduced in Congress
The bill, dubbed the Stop Underrides Act, would require underride guards on the sides and front of a truck and would update the standards for underrides on the back of trailers. It would also add underride guards as part of the required annual inspections for trucks.

Navistar ordered to pay $1.3M to fleet in case over MaxxForce engines
Attorneys for Dutch Maid Logistics say the final settlement could reach upwards of $2 million, once payback for attorney’s fees has been calculated. A Navistar spokesperson said the company is disappointed in the ruling and that Navistar is “reviewing its options” for proceeding.

More than 26,000 Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack trucks recalled over transmission issue
The recalls from Paccar, Volvo and Mack all stem from issues on trucks equipped with automated manual transmissions. In the affected trucks, an internal component in the clutch assembly could fail. Daimler Trucks and Great Dane also recently issued unrelated recalls.
