Because of what is inside me, not the outside. I love to work, have good work ethics and have pride in everything I do. Started driving trucks when I was 18…when women “didn’t do that.” Self-taught and worked hard all my life. I was never out to prove anything, I was just a tomboy and loved to drive. As a woman in a man’s world I had to work twice as hard to be thought of half as good. I pulled doubles for 10 years and otherwise pulled dry vans and reefers. Started out driving a 1957 Chevy wrecker truck in 1974.
In my spare time I do a lot of dog and cat rescue and I really enjoy working on my three classic cars. One is my very first car that I have had for 41 years. Another is a 1970 Cadillac ambulance and I use it mostly for fundraisers with fire departments.
I’ve been driving trucks for 41 years and 36 of them have been as a proud Teamster. I now drive a beautiful 1991 Peterbilt all decked out in chrome and stars and stripes. It is mostly used for public relations and I only haul for charity and disaster relief. We took loads to New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina devastated the area. I haul toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots and other local Christmas toy drives for needy families. I load up and deliver food for the needy as well.
It just makes me feel good to give to others.
