2026 is a milestone year for the United States of America, as the nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Trucking has never had a short supply of patriotism. Many highway haulers come from military families or have a background in service themselves. Plenty more just carry an immense sense of pride and patriotism for the country we call home.
Overdrive's featured many trucks through the years with patriotic graphics and stories to accompany them and their owners' pride. Here, we're highlighting just a few of those to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th birthday.
The Overdrive team wishes you all a Happy Fourth!
Earlier this year, Peterbilt Motors Company unveiled its limited-edition "Freedom 250" 589 model. Only 250 of the special units are being built.
Likewise, Peterbilt's sister company Kenworth is celebrating America's 250th with a reimagined "TourAmerica" paint scheme, originally featured on mid-1990s T600 models. The new commemorative scheme is available on Kenworth T680, W900L (pictured), W990 and T880 models.
Just this week, Mack Trucks debuted a limited-edition America 250 tribute truck, a custom-wrapped Mack Pioneer honoring the company’s deep roots and its longstanding role in helping move the country forward. A bold “eagle” flag treatment runs along both sides of the truck, creating the impression of the American flag flying down the road, and the themes “250 Years of Freedom” and “America 250” are featured prominently in recognition of the national milestone.
The last time the United States celebrated a milestone birthday, in 1976, Kenworth introduced a limited-edition W900 Bicentennial model. Shown here is one such unit owned by Jay Van Kampen.
The inclusion of Karmak president and CEO Jim Allen's "Freedom Truck" is self-explanatory -- just look at that scheme!
DSD Transport's 2024 Peterbilt 389, driven by Sy Kunesh, features some subtle interior touches, as shown in the next photo, that showcase the owners' and driver's American pride.
The floor plate features the American flag with the Pledge of Allegiance written out under it.
Another rig that may not immediately make you think "patriotic" is this 2019 Peterbilt 389 owned by Robert Burleson, owner of North Carolina-based Jack Hicks Inc.
But inside, it's clear as day with the American flag painted on the floor. In the engine compartment, the fan blades are painted with stars to continue the theme.

Finally, last but not least, Brad Hartwick's 1978 Kenworth W900A hot rod, with graphics featuring the American flag, U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and more.
