David Gates Jr. bought this 2007 Kenworth W900L a month after he was hit head-on by a car in southern Idaho in his 2000 W900L that he had owned and customized over 10-plus years. In that crash, his truck rolled and caught fire after being struck. This 2007, which is powered by a Cat C15 with an Eaton-Fuller 18-speed, came out of Alaska and was part of the Carlisle fleet featured on the Ice Road Truckers TV series. Gates has owned it for four years and has replaced the engine and transmission during that time. He's done all the work himself.
