Report: Detention sucks over $1 billion from truckersā wages annually, boosts crash risk
Drivers see an average annual pay loss of between $1,281 and $1,534, the report concludes, as well as potentially contributing to an extra 6,500 truck crashes each year. The DOTās Office of Inspector General has called on FMCSA to bolster its data collection efforts around detention and its impacts.
