Four years ago, owner-operator J.D. Howard joined Dan Ratta’s Marshallville, Ohio-based small liquid-asphalt-hauling operation, Ratta Trucking. At that time, he paid around $65,000 for a new 42-foot 7,500-gallon all-aluminum insulated 2015 Polar high-heat asphalt tanker.

VIDEO: In addition to a down-to-the-frame refurbishment of many of the mechanical components of the truck, Howard invested in Jones Performance’s older A-model-style hood for the W900L and an 66-inch ICT flattop sleeper built to resemble a classic Double Eagle-style model, giving the rig an overall retro feel.
