Illinois state Route 50 closed at Cicero Avenue

Illinois state Route 50 (Cicero Avenue) will be closed roughly one-quarter mile north of I-55 at 39th Street in Chicago at 6 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, until noon, Sunday, Nov. 8. The Canadian National Railroad will repair the railroad crossing at this location during the closure. 

The posted detour for southbound Illinois Route 50 traffic will direct traffic to turn left (west) on 39th Street from Illinois Route 50, continue west on 39th Street to Central Avenue, turn left (south) on Central Avenue to 47th Street, turn left (east) on 47th Street and continue back to Illinois Route 50.

The posted detour for northbound Illinois Route 50 traffic will direct traffic to turn left (west) on 47th Street from Illinois Route 50, continue west on 47th Street to Central Avenue, turn right (north) on Central Avenue to 39th Street, turn right (east) on 39th Street and continue back to Illinois Route 50.

The I-55/Cicero Avenue interchange will remain open. I-55 traffic traveling north on Illinois Route 50 will be directed with message boards to exit at Central Avenue.
