Ruan Transport driver named Highway Angel

Ruan Transport company driver Shawn Hubbard has been named a Highway Angel for rescuing a man trapped inside a burning car last Nov. 13, the Truckload Carriers Association announced.

Hubbard was heading east on I-60 in California in the early morning when he saw the wrecked car with flames shooting from it at rest against a high embankment. The driver in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, but Hubbard was able to help the 23-year-old passenger to safety.

The California Highway Patrol presented Hubbard with a certificate of commendation, and his Des Moines, Iowa-based carrier gave him a gold “R” certificate. TCA awarded Hubbard with a Highway Angel lapel pin, certificate, and patch.
