I-64 near St. Louis to close Oct. 8-11

The Illinois Department of Transportation will close both directions of Interstate 64 between Illinois Route 111 to the I-64/55/70 split at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, to remove the 15th Street overpass.

The roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11.

The detour for the closure is to take I-255 to I-70/55 to get into St. Louis. Drivers may use I-255 and I-270 to get between Illinois and Missouri during this work.

This work is part of construction required for the Mississippi River Bridge project. The entire project should be open to traffic in 2014.
