Iowa waives weight limits

Iowa’s temporary weight limit waiver for trucks carrying harvest goods, but not traveling on federal interstates, ends Nov. 20.

On Sept. 21, Gov. Chet Culver signed a proclamation waiving weight permit requirements for 60 days for haulers of corn, soybeans, hay, straw and stover. It allows them to exceed weigh limits by 10 percent per axle without a permit.

The waiver includes all Iowa roads but not the federal interstate system.
