Diesel price increases slightly

For the third consecutive week, the average weekly retail on-highway diesel price increased this week, rising 0.7-cent to $3.073 a gallon, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The national average price is 36.8 cents higher than the same week last year and the highest price since $3.094 the week of May 17.

All of the regions tracked by DOE recorded moderate gains, except for the Gulf Coast, which nudged down 0.3-cent to $2.979. It remains the only region to have sub-$3 diesel fuel. The biggest increase was in the Rocky Mountain area, up 2.7 cents to $3.112. New England rose 2.2 cents to $3.14.
