A new Temperature Controlled Team Service begins today as a CRST Expedited division, the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based carrier CRST International Inc. announced. The service will rely on team drivers.
The temperature controlled transportation method cuts down delivery time from about five and a half days with a single driver to less than 60 hours with team drivers. CRST drivers and equipment, including new Thermo King Refrigerated units and insulated Utility Trailers, are being used in the new service.
The deliveries, which have already begun, include fruits and vegetables, dairy, meats, fish and shellfish, confections, ice cream, pharmaceuticals, wine, beer and health and beauty aids.
