Truckers donate to soldiers

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association will sponsor the fifth Truckers for Troops campaign Dec. 5-9. The outreach organizes and sends care packages to soldiers in combat duty.

Truckers who wish to participate can renew their OOIDA memberships during the campaign week, and 10 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the care packages. OOIDA matches the donations. Shell Rotella donated $5,000 to jump start the campaign.

The campaign encourages cards and letters for the soldiers, especially from children. They can be sent to Truckers for Troops, P.O. Box 1000, Grain Valley, Mo., 64029. OOIDA requests that towns or school names can be included but without other personal details.
