National diesel price gains

The national average diesel price rose 4.3 cents in the latest week to $4.094, marking the eighth increase in the last nine weeks, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information.

The current average is the highest since May 9 when it was $4.104 a gallon. The price has risen 31 cents over the past two months. A year ago the price was 22.3 cents higher.

All regions except the Rocky Mountain and Midwest are above $4, and they are only pennies below that level. The Rocky Mountain price shot up 6.7 cents to $3.986 and the Midwest increased 6 cents to $3.974.

The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
