The pros and cons of engine retuning

Reprogramming your engine can breathe new life into it, increasing horsepower and fuel economy. It can also shorten engine and drivetrain life and void warranties.

Some owner-operators who’ve had the work done are quite pleased with the results. Engine makers’ technical experts warn that engines and drivetrains are designed to work best within certain parameters and can be damaged when those specs are altered.
