Carrier Transicold announced a new line of what it says are ultra-efficient transport refrigeration unit and generator set, dubbed EcoForward, for compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s diesel emissions standards, which are set to change in 2013. Efficiency improvements boast engine power being reduced by 18 to 20 percent and fuel consumption reduced by 5 to 20 percent, the company says. The technology is being applied to Carrier Transicold’s trailer refrigeration platforms, both in belt-driven units and Vector hybrid diesel-electric units, as well as the PowerLine generator sets used with container refrigeration systems.
