Old Dominion named Forbes’ most trustworthy
Thomasville, N.C.-based Old Dominion Freight Line has been named one of America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies by Forbes magazine. Old Dominion received the honor based on conservative accounting practices and solid corporate management, Forbes said. The LTL carrier’s recognition was made based on analysis developed by GMI, an independent international financial analytics firm. More than 8,000 companies are observed and examined each year.

Devery Hope has been awarded a Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 by Salt Lake City-based C.R. England for improving his mile-per-gallon average and average idle percentage for the first quarter of 2012 as part of an ongoing contest for the carrier… Con-way Truckload, based in Joplin, Mo., recognized Kathy Bingham of Dallas, N.C., Mark Figueiredo of Brooklyn, Mich., and Kevin Sorenson of Ozark, Mo., for reaching the 1 million safe mile mark and David Foster of Joplin, Mo., and Alfredo Romero of Fort Worth, Texas, for logging 2 million safe miles… American Central Transport of Liberty, Mo., named David Storey its 2011 Company Driver of the Year and Colin Green its 2011 Independent Contractor of the Year…Chris Sebastian was chosen as LeMars, Iowa-based B-T Inc.’s April Driver of the Month… Melton Truck Lines of Tulsa, Okla., received the President’s E Star Award for Export Service from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Covenant Transport is offering hazmat teams that run at least 35 loads per quarter ongoing $2,500-per-quarter bonuses to help replace equipment…Flatbed carrier Melton Truck Lines, based in Tulsa, Okla., raised driver pay 1 cent per mile for all drivers, effective June 5…Normal, Ill.-based Nussbaum Transportation increased company driver pay 1 cent per mile, along with stop-off and loading/unloading pay increases… Builder Transportation Company, based in Memphis, Tenn., announced a percentage-based pay program for company drivers expected to increase driver pay by 10 percent.
