Tippin Tops Chart with Patriotic Hit

Country music artist and former trucker Aaron Tippin, who was featured in October’s Truckers News, was thrilled 10 years ago when he received a call from Bob Hope asking him to perform for the troops in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. He sang his hit, “You’ve Got to Stand for Something,” and still performs the song in concert while standing in front of an American flag.

Today, our country is fighting in another war, and Tippin has stepped up to the plate again. He released “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly,” which has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Singles Sales Chart and No. 5 on the all-format Top 200 Singles Chart.

Several years ago, Tippin, Kenny Beard and Casey Beathard wrote the single about patriotism and their feelings about the United States. The song was never released because it didn’t fit in the theme of Tippin’s albums.

“The situation now is reminiscent of Saudi 10 years ago,” Tippin said. “This song is an opportunity to speak to people. I hope it will be an inspiration to the soldiers, the men and women about to be deployed and the Americans at home – and help our country heal.”

On Oct. 2, “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly” was released; it included Tippin’s previous hit, “You’ve Got to Stand for Something,” as the B-side. It was the highest debuting single of the week.
