First Peterbilt 579 delivered

Peterbilt Motors Company announced the delivery of the first Model 579 to TMC Transportation of Des Moines, Iowa. The Model 579 is Peterbilt’s newest SmartWay designated product. In addition to commemorating the first delivery of the Model 579, TMC Transportation placed an order for an additional 1,500 units.

The Model 579 features a 2.1 meter-wide aluminum cab with a panoramic-style windshield. Features include new sound abatement technology that minimizes outside noise, a climate control system and the industry’s widest use of LED lighting, the company says.

What started out as a modest build for a nice working truck turned into an all-out custom transformation by Geis Peterbilt's Cody McCandless. Along the way, "a lot of days that you don’t succeed," McCandless said, "but the challenge has been accepted, and we’re having fun with it.”
