Used parts gaining traction with owner-operators

Used and refurbished parts are catching on as a maintenance alternative for owner-operators due in large part to harsh economic conditions, says a report from Overdrive sister site Truck Parts & Service.

The article quotes Jimmy Kitchens, President of American Truck Parts, as saying that “Truckers are keeping trucks longer and repairing or rebuilding in order to compete in a tough industry.” He also says that decreasing downtime for owner-operators by having used parts available quicker than new parts is another major draw.
