Are you feeling any extra jingle in your pocket?
According to data released this week by Internet Truckstop, spot market rates rose in all three segments in April, with reefer rates leading the way witha 7-cent increase from the previous month.
Reefer rates have now jumped 24 cents since February after falling in December, January and February.
Van rates saw a one-penny increase from March, following a big 16-cent jump in March. Flatbed rates increased 4 cents — a noticeable change for flatbed, which is must less volatile than reefer and flatbed — to its highest point since August 2012.
It’s also 10 cents higher than February’s rates — the largest two-month increase since an 18-cent jump from February to April of last year. Flatbed the last two months has seen an uptick most likely due to increasing construction in the spring and an improving housing market overall.

Flatbed: $2.06
Reefer: $2.12
Van: $1.83
