Agency orders Colorado trucking company to cease operation

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in the third such announcement this week has ordered the Aurora, Colo.-based car hauling trucking fleet GD Cars to immediately cease its operation after the agency issued an imminent hazard out-of-service order.

FMCSA says after an investigation, it determined that the carrier did not inspect, repair or maintain its equipment, and two of its trucks were impounded recently in Kansas for safety deficiencies, determined by roadside inspections.

Moreover, the carrier did not have in place a system for checking its drivers for drug and alcohol use, nor did it monitor drivers to ensure they were complying with federal hours of service regulations.

The company would also occasionally dispatch a driver who did not have a commercial driver’s license.

“The regulations exist to protect everyone,” said FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro. ” Compliance is not optional.  If a motor carrier does not adhere to the safety regulations, we will see that it does not operate.”
