In the seventh race of the Meritor ChampTruck World Series’ inaugural season, Hungarian racer Krisztian Szabo won his second race of the season at this weekend’s race at Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska.
The Podium Race produced six lead changes, four major spins that altered the finish, and a contested contact in the last corner on the last lap that resulted in a penalty being assessed, again changing the finishing order in the race.
After all the dust settled, Szabo came out on top, with Mack tech Mike Morgan being awarded a contested second-place finish. Former Indy 500 competitor Davey Hamilton, who drove the No. 11 Optima Batteries Freightliner Columbia, came in a hard-fought third place.
The next race is set for Portland International Raceway, Oct. 2-4.
