Deck Park Tunnel maintenance and improvement will close I-10 EB this evening, Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 p.m. between Interstate 17 and Seventh Street in Phoenix, reports the Arizona Department of Transportation. Reopening is scheduled for 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 19).
The NB and SB I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 also will be closed.
I-10 EB traffic can detour onto SB I-17 at the I-10 “Stack” interchange and reconnect with I-10 near Sky Harbor International Airport.
The following weekend, WB I-10 will be closed between the I-17 “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue near the tunnel from 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 23) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for additional tunnel maintenance and improvements. Traffic will primarily detour along NB I-17.
Drivers also can expect additional weekend freeway closures in the Phoenix area, including:
- NP Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Rio Salado Parkway, near the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), and McDowell Road from 9 p.m. Friday (Oct. 16) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 19) for rubberized asphalt paving as part of the ongoing freeway-widening project in the area. Both Loop 202 ramps to NB Loop 101 will be closed. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, including WB US 60 and I-10 to NB State Route 51 to access northeast Phoenix and north Scottsdale.
- EB Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Gilbert and Higley roads in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 16) to 11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) for a widening project. The route is also closed between Val Vista Drive and McDowell Road, near Power Road, from 11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 19) for a similar project. Drivers should consider alternate routes, including EB US 60. EB Loop 202 traffic will detour along McDowell Road.
- Future Weekend: NB Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Rio Salado Parkway, near the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), and Thomas Road from 9 p.m. Friday (Oct. 23) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26) for rubberized asphalt paving as part of widening project. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. Drivers should consider alternate routes.
