The company Doft, or “Do Freight Transportation,” is a load-matching service that is aiming to inject greater transparency and speed into freight transactions between owner-operators/small fleets and shippers. It likens its service in freight to ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft, and says its successful connections between shippers and carriers come with a simple service fee of $4.99 per transaction for both sides of the deal.
With recent additions of former GetLoaded load-board execs to its staff, among others, the company is focusing in on boosting the freight within its network, pitching small shippers on the ability to find carriers with speed.
Owner-operators and small fleets, meanwhile, the company says, can be certain in the Doft iPhone app that any load they’re seeing is a current, valid one, an improvement over traditional and mobile load boards that rely on a load poster’s activity to maintain load currency. Loads are often left “’hanging’ there for a while and sometimes the data can become obsolete,” says company co-founder Dmitri Fedorchenko. “Our load is valid only when a driver looks at it on the smartphone.” As soon as the load is accepted, it no longer appears within the app.
Other benefits include a promise of payment within 24 hours of load delivery, and a fuel-advance option “available to all our drivers,” Fedorchenko says. “They can receive up to 30 percent of a freight bill to their bank account right after a pickup by simple uploading the BOL after a load is picked up in the Doft app.”
