Baldwin Distribution Services of Amarillo, Texas, launched its refrigerated operation in 1981 with 5 tractors and 7 trailers. Today, Baldwin boasts more than a dozen times those numbers, and operates nationwide — lucky for them, and also country artist Brian Milson, whose new “Saltwater Cowboy” single is being promoted nationwide with floor-to-ceiling billboards on the sides of many Baldwin dry vans.
Milson (pictured, with Baldwin Distribution president & CEO Dudley Baldwin) was born and raised in Odessa, Texas, and attended the storied Permian High School, which inspired the book and eventual movie and television series Friday Night Lights. Milson was a member of the Permian show choir “Black Magic,” where his desire for a musical career developed. At the age of 17 he picked up the guitar and learned to play.
Baldwin CEO Dudley Baldwin says he never thought about using the company’s trailers to help promote country music, but sees huge potential. “We’re a Texas company, born and bred, and we were founded on the idea that connecting with our customers and our drivers helps set us apart. And what better way to do that then help spread the word about today’s finest Texas talent.”
Milson’s new single, “Saltwater Cowboy,” began playing on regional radio stations in mid-April. Since then, he’s been on tour, appearing live at festivals and local establishments, meeting fans and granting media interviews across the region.
