The Truck Stop Coupons app, which debuted for the iPhone and Blackberry devices quite some time ago, quietly gained more and more functionality as time passed by — from real-time fuel prices for the comprehensive locator for diesel-fuel sellers embedded within it to searching functionality for truck stops according to their amenities offered. Now, the app, put together by Overdrive and Truckers News publishers Randall-Reilly Business Media and Information in partnership with Salebug.com, among others, is looking quite nice.
It’s been renamed and redesigned as “Trucker Tools,” still a free app and now available on Android phones in addition to iPhones and Blackberries. And scads of new functions with an improved home layout make it a quite useful tool indeed.
From the home screen, which you see pictured here, access to daily coupon deals and the full truck stop guide (with real-time traffic newly added to the mapping functions, as well as different searchable amenities) are prominent at the top, and new functions include a weather button that offers forecasts for nearby or searchable locations five days out. An active message board, too, is providing a wide-open forum for drivers to connect with and/or ask questions of other drivers.
As for loads, that functionality is fast on the way, says Robert Lake, Randall-Reilly senior vice president. “When we get the loads up, drivers will be able to access loads within a radius of their phone,” he says, or search for loads in a particular area, all free of charge.
Easy access to factoring and cargo insurance services, too, will be part of it all, too. New functions are in the planning stages, so keep an eye for the additions in the apps markets.
