“With horsepower, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get it, and you can do it yourself. If you’re an owner-operator or a small fleet owner, with the economy the way it is, you’ve got to be creative.” –Erich Owens

Erich Owens' truck at the 2013 Broome County (NY) Fair truck pullErich Owens regular readers will recall from my past coverage of his and Ralph Dineen’s two quite serious Series 60 Western Star truck-pulling machines, regulars at the annual truck pull and show at the Broome County Fair in Whitney Point, N.Y. This year, the overall fair’s taking place July 28-August 2, and Owens says the show and shine gets going at 8:30 a.m. August 1, with pull action starting at 1 p.m. Click here for more info on the fair.

You can catch both Owens’ and Dineen’s rigs in action at the 2013 pull at this link, and for good measure here’s Owens’:

And in Virginia mid-August…
Steve Kalwaytis of the Virginia Large Cars group — find them on Facebook at this link — wrote in with details about a show he’s hosting with the rest of the crew in Madison, Va., on August 15. All proceeds, he says “go to support veterans and their families.” It’s called the “Freedom Fighers Truck Show.”

Got a patriotically decorated truck? Kalwaytis is looking specificially for you to “show up and help us support the freedom fighters.” Here’s the details:
