Fred Stair has owned this 1988 Peterbilt 379 since 2008, rebuilding just about everything on the truck since he took ownership 10 years ago. In September 2017, Stair replaced the rig’s 425-hp Cat and 18-speed with a 600-hp 12.7-liter Detroit 60 Series with a 9-speed Eaton and 3:55 rears. He uses the truck to haul a smooth bore chemical tank over-the-road and regional out of his Spring, Texas, home base. Even though the truck is 30 years old, he says he runs an ELD.
