The latest addition to Overdrive‘s quick-glance comparison chart of electronic logging devices on the market today is the bring-your-own-device-type FleetUp product/software. Fleets/owner-operators utilizing the service lease the hardware dongle — which plugs into the engine — and pay a minimum $35 monthly service fee to keep the device active.
Company rep Dave Holt noted the logbook app that interfaces with the engine connection is available for both Android and iOS applications. Per-customer tracking/delivery confirmation and a sophisticated, patent-pending fuel-waste analysis application are among features that set FleetUp apart. Engine diagnostics and partially automated IFTA reporting, likewise, are among available services.
The California-based company says its engine connection hardware utilizes the cellular network “to transmit data direct from the vehicle engine every 10s to a modern, cloud-based data server, where it is made available” through both web-based and mobile apps. FleetUp is currently one of three ELD providers listed on FMCSA’s self-certified device registry.
