Help Inc., provider of PrePass weigh station bypass and toll payment services, is expanding its weigh station bypass capabilities with the launch of Motion, a native application for telematics platforms and Android and iOS tablets that uses cell-based geofencing and geolocation technology to bring weigh station bypass to locations where transponder-based systems are not available.
Help Inc. has also introduced PrePass ELD, an electronic logging device application and mobile bypass application designed to meet the needs of small- to medium-sized carriers looking for an ELD solution to comply with the federally mandated ELD requirement that takes effect later this year.
Mark Doughty, vice president and COO of Help Inc., said existing PrePass RFID-based transponder technology is still a more accurate method, current-generation cellular networks have been significantly improved and allow Motion’s cell-based system allows the company to expand its current network of more than 300 PrePass locations nationwide.
Motion is expected to roll out later this year and will be included with the PrePass weigh station bypass service offered at no additional charge to existing customers. Customers may use Motion as a stand-alone application or pair it with the PrePass transponder for maximum bypass opportunities.
The bring-your-own device ELD is available for both Android and iOS platforms on any tablet or smartphone tethered with an OBDII device plugged into the truck’s diagnostic port. The system also offers driver vehicle inspection reporting, central web-based reporting and Bluetooth wireless OBDII connection.
Licenses for the app are available for $12.99 per month for existing PrePass customers and $14.99 for non-customers.
