Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies announced Thursday the expansion of its Endurant transmission series by introducing the Endurant HD V transmission.
Designed for vocational truck applications, the V has a with maximum gross combination weight ratings of 70,000 lb., (32,000 kg) using 9-liter, 11-liter, and the upcoming Cummins X10 engines. Maximum engine torque is 1,700 lb.-ft. (2300 Nm).
Eaton Cummins states the new Endurant HD V is loaded with features used around the job site, such as an extreme duty clutch for improved low-speed maneuvering, a rock free feature to help get unstuck in mud or sand, an off-highway mode that automatically tunes the transmission for optimum performance in changing soil conditions, and dual power takeoff (PTO) openings to power hydraulic systems.

Drivers also will appreciate the confident launch performance on grades thanks to its hill start aid feature, the smooth shifting and gear selection logic. The company says the new secondary configuration mode gives drivers the ability to toggle between two performance goals, features that optimize the transmission shift points and clutch calibration, allowing for a tailored driving experience that accounts for the load or terrain.
