Heavy-duty suspension manufacturer Hendrickson last month introduced its new Softek integrated front steer axle and monoleaf suspension system for heavy-duty truck and tractor applications rated at 12,500 and 13,200 pounds on Peterbilt 567 and 579 models.

Red three-link rear suspension system with adjustable arms and mounting brackets for automotive applicationsThe company said Softek delivers significant weight savings compared to competitor configurations, noting it can save 74 lbs. of weight versus standard front axles and multileaf spring suspensions.

The Steertek NXT steer axle features a box-shaped cross section and continuous beam architecture that resists horizontal, vertical and twisting forces more effectively than I-beam axles, the company added.

The option for integrated air disc brake knuckles eliminates the need for a separate torque plate and fasteners, and a two-piece knuckle design eliminates the need to remove the kingpin to service the bushings. Hendrickson also said the premium kingpin bushings and seals improve bushing life, extending recommended service intervals up to 100,000 miles.

The monoleaf spring suspension eliminates interleaf friction for an improved ride and comfort while providing enhanced handling and increased roll stability.

Softek is backed by long-term warranty coverage, including a 10-year or 1-million-mile structural warranty and a 5-year or 750,000-mile spindle-to-spindle warranty.
