Keith and Kevin Whightsil, a father-son duo of Topeka, Kansas, own this 2004 Kenworth W900 equipped with a Studio Sleeper. The truck is powered by a Caterpillar C15 and a 13-speed Fuller. The truck is leased to WLX out of Kansas City, Mo. The truck is driven by Kevin, while his father, Keith, runs the business. In the photo above, Whightsil’s truck is hauling a military heavy-haul trailer that was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq.
Affected tractors are equipped with an automated Eaton UltraShift Plus or Eaton Advantage Transmission with right hand stalk shifter. In the affected trucks, the display on the instrument panel can indicate “N” when the shifter is set into “D” or “R,” causing the truck not to move.
