Vermont has done just about everything in its power to stop trucks from crossing Vermont Route 108, also known as the infamous Smuggler's Notch, but the trucks keep coming.
It's become something of a local joke, as trucks blow past signs in multiple languages and even an obstacle course meant to keep them out.
But since fines recently increased to $10,000, we'll see if anyone is still laughing.
Overdrive reporter Alex Lockie, who lives in Vermont, crossed the treacherous mountain pass last October in a four-wheeler -- even then it was a tight squeeze on some of the turns.
In the video above, find out about the latest fine increase and see for yourself just how ridiculous a proposition it is to attempt the route with a 53-foot trailer, GPS be damned.
