Examiners fear bogus driver med cards could stem from FMCSA hack
FMCSA said earlier this month āthere appears to be no evidenceā of driversā or examinersā information being stolen. But if any information regarding examiners was stolen, specifically their license number, there could be potential for bogus medical certificates to be issued, according to interviews with several DOT-certified medical examiners.

After hack, FMCSA mum on when medical examiner website will be restored
OverdriveĀ has queried FMCSA repeatedly in the past week about the siteās outage. The agency has not answered questions about whether the siteās outage has disrupted the issuance of medical certificates and whether it can fully confirm that no private information about driversā medical records was stolen.

Truck renting group seeks ELD exemption for all of 2018
The Truck Renting and Leasing Association has been granted a 90-day exemption through April 19 from the ELD mandate. It has also announced it has filed a petition for an exemption to last through the end of the year.

FMCSA issuing brief ELD waiver to short-term rental trucks, exempts motion picture haulers
The U.S. DOT has announced it wonāt start requiring the use of electronic logging devices for short-term rental trucks, defined as 30 days or less, until March 18. Also, 6,500 drivers who haul equipment for TV and movie productions will be exempt from the ELD mandate for at least five years.
