FMCSA publishes, immediately suspends new online carrier registration system
With the publication and immediate suspension of the URS, existing carriers will need to continue to follow the same procedures and forms for registration updates as they do today. The agency intends to lift the suspension once the technology to implement the URS is complete, it says.

ELD mandate sees another court victory, OOIDA plans to appeal to Supreme Court
A three-judge panel for the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has denied OOIDA’s request for the court to rehear its case against the U.S. DOT’s electronic logging device mandate, which takes effect later this year. OOIDA says it plans to appeal to the decision to uphold the mandate to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A Georgia-based medical examiner who’s been accused by authorities of issuing thousands of fraudulent medical certifications to truck drivers has been indicted. FMCSA has said 6,600 truck operators who received certification from the doc will need to see a new doctor and receive fresh certifications.
