(Photo courtesy Giles County Sheriff’s Department)A tractor-trailer hauling nearly $1 million worth of cancer medication was stolen from a Tennessee truck stop late last week.
On Thursday, May 3, around 8:30 p.m., Giles County, Tenn., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stolen truck from the Pilot truck stop off of I-65 near Pulaski, Tenn. The stolen Freightliner was owned by Arman Transport, a 48-truck fleet out of Louisville, Ky.
According to a report from the Giles County Sheriff’s Department, the trucker told police he had stopped for fuel, and when he came out of the store to go back to his truck, it was gone.
The trailer contained 1,300 vials of Octagam, a medication used to treat cancer, worth $965,000.
Video from the truck stop showed what appeared to be a red Volvo tractor-trailer follow the victim into the truck stop. According to the sheriff’s office report, a person then got out of the Volvo and took the victim’s truck and trailer, then got onto I-65 South. The stolen truck and trailer were located in Giles County the next morning, but the contents of the trailer were gone.
The Freightliner had been heading for Dothan, Ala. The Giles County Sheriff’s Office released a photo of the stolen truck hoping that it might prompt someone to come forward with more information.
