Pilot Flying J implementing $100M in upgrades, healthy food options

Pilot Diesel LanesPilot Flying J announced Oct. 30 it is investing $100 million in facility upgrades and implementing healthy food choices and new hot beverage offerings.

Highlighting the facility upgrades are shower improvements, Pilot says, as they will make them larger, improve the lighting, add Italian tile, add additional hooks to hang personal items and install custom-designed benches for seating

Restrooms will also get new tile, low-water consuption fixtures like toilets and faucets, touchless hand dryers and LED light fixtures.

Select Pilot locations will feature PJ Fresh Marketplaces, which will have “fresh, healthy and high-quality meal choices,” Pilot says, like homestyle meatloaf and roasted chicken.

Pilot and Flying J locations will also feature “coffee house-quality beverages, cappuccino, iced coffee and hot chocolate.

To celebrate the changes, Pilot says it is kicking off what it’s calling the Travel Well campaign Nov. 3, and it will run through Thanksgiving.

Pete Thomas, from the NBC’s Biggest Loser, along with NASCAR driver Michael Annett, will document their travels and how Pilot and Flying J locations are part of their trips.

The journeys will be documented on Pilot Flying J’s website and its social media profiles.
