In the video above, take a close look at one of the power units utilized in Kenworth‘s big unveiling of the new W990 model in Las Vegas last Thursday night. As MHC Kenworth’s Joplin, Mo., dealer rep for Kyle Cousins and the Fleenor Bros. small fleet tells in the video above, Cousins and company took delivery of the unit Saturday at the Guilty by Association Truck Show after its use in the Las Vegas unveiling. It was in Joplin where I got a close look at it.

This one’s spec’d, as Joplin MHC Kenworth’s Larry Lawhead says, “big and bad,” like an old truck to a degree, with a 291-inch wheelbase, 18 speed transmission delivering big horsepower from the Cummins X13 engine to the drives, with 3:36 rears.

Yet it’s got all the quiet and comforts of home on the interior you could ask for (a big selling point for the model), with integrated TV wall mount, custom diamond-tuck, premium sound system, high-quality genuine leather seats, plenty of storage, back glass and fridge-freezer.Yet it’s got all the quiet and comforts of home on the interior you could ask for (a big selling point for the model), with integrated TV wall mount, custom diamond-tuck, premium sound system, high-quality genuine leather seats, plenty of storage, back glass and fridge-freezer. Next up for the new addition to the Fleenor fleet will be a deck plate and more at the back at the rig to complete the unit in a manner similar to the several tractors they showed at GBATS this year. Regular readers may recall my “second look” at the Icon 900 video after that truck’s unveiling some years back — Cousins and Fleenor Bros. purchased the very truck used in Kenworth’s unveiling back then. As Lawhead explains in the video up top, Fleenor also grabbed up five of the last Icon 900 special editions of the W900L ever made.

That reality in part netted the Joplin-headquartered fleet the opportunity to get in on the W990 action on the front end with this unit.

Find plenty more views on the truck in the video up top, plus a few more that follow.
