CAB SHOCK ABSORBER
Tenneco Automotive’s Gas-Magnum shocks “feature tube and valving technologies engineered specifically for Class 7 and 8 truck cab suspensions,” the company says. The shocks have nitrogen above their fluid, which eliminates foaming of the fluid and ensures “faster, more precise response to road conditions.”
Superior Signals’ new weather-resistant SYSL-182 has 18 LEDs and is said to be visible for up to 1.25 miles. It features flashing and steady signal beams. It’s available in amber, red and blue. The light is powered by four AA batteries and has a magnetic backing for easy attachment to the metal surfaces of vehicles.
UNITIZED TRAILER AXLE HUB
IMT Ingersoll Axles has introduced a fully unitized hub with long-life seals. It’s mounted to an IMT axle, with friction-welded, high-tensile spindles and outboard brake drums as standard equipment. It has a five-year, 500,000-mile warranty.
Stemco’s new DataTrac electronic hubodometer is completely electronic, having no moving parts. Powered by a lithium battery, it can provide readings for an individual trip while also showing lifetime miles. It’s compact, has an LCD display and is warranted for four years, 500,000 miles.
CLAMP CONFORMS TO TUBING
Donaldson Co. has introduced a pre-formed, stainless steel exhaust clamp designed for overlapping tube connections such as muffler inlets, outlets, slotted joints and flex tubing. The company says the Stepped SealClamp’s “unique stepped reaction block conforms to tubes in overlapping connections to eliminate flex pinch and minimize leaks.”
FIXED GOOSENECK TRAILER
The fixed gooseneck trailers from Rogers Brothers Corp. feature heavy-duty landing legs; full width or narrow gooseneck design; unitized frame construction; air-dried oak decking; a sloped rear extension to ease loading; manual or hydraulically operated loading ramps; heavy-duty air-ride or spring suspensions; and 4-Sensor 2-Modulator ABS. Pana-Pacific Corp. offers portable Sirius Satellite Radio with the new Jensen satellite tuner kit. The portable kit includes a wired control-display unit, FM-Modulator, Sirius satellite radio tuner and a Sirius satellite antenna all in one bag. The unit plugs into the cigarette lighter and is available at new-truck dealers and participating truck stops.
PORTABLE ONLINE ACCESS
BAMnet Corp. offers “pay-as-you-go” Internet access that allows use from hotel rooms, truck stops and elsewhere. A connection can also be made via cell phone equipped with a modem cable adapter, which usually costs about $45. Usage appears on a local phone bill at 6.5 cents per-minute toll charge, sometimes with a 25-cent fee added.
SUSPENSION FITS TRAILER APPLICATIONS
Ridewell Corp. has introduced a self-steering trailer version of its RLT-230 Light Trac self-steering truck-mount suspension system called the RLT-230-S. The integrated lift unit includes suspension, brakes and fully dressed fabricated axle. It may be used in the pusher or tag position and is rated at 13,200 pounds. The system keeps axles on the ground when cornering for tight turning and allows tires to consistently track with the trailer, virtually eliminating tire scrub.

HIGH CAPACITY REEFER
Thermo King’s new SB-400 features “the highest cooling capacity at low temperatures and super-fast temperature pull-down while providing the best fuel efficiency available.” The unit features sophisticated electronic control of temperature and 12,000-hour, long-life coolant. The company says the unit is ideal for “trailers typically filled to maximum cube hauling ice cream, blood plasma or other deep frozen products.”

ROLLING TARP SYSTEM
Transcraft Corp. and Aero Industries offer the Conestoga rolling tarp, converting a flatbed into a fully covered van, which is useful for hauling any weather sensitive cargo. It allows the trailer to be loaded from the rear, sides or overhead.
NEW RECTANGULAR LAMP
Grote Industries has introduced a rectangular stop, tail and turn lamp, the U.S. 45 Series, which is powered by an incandescent bulb. It features a vibration-resistant bulb-mounting system for longer lamp life. A hermetic lens-to-housing seal prevents water and dirt from entering the lamp. It comes with a standard female pin connection to make replacing old lamps easy.
