CLASSIC CATTLE CABOVER
Bill Barefield, 67, says he likes his 1978 Kenworth cabover because it’s old – like he is. He is proud that the vintage truck, with its 290-hp Cummins, still has its original serial numbers and is in great condition. Barefield, of Jacksboro, Texas, says the truck was built for Burger King, but he uses it to haul cattle. He says his truck proves that with some TLC, a rig can run hard for years.
PRIDE AND JOY
Allan Tillman of Santa Rosa, Calif., calls his fire-engine-red Peterbilt his “pride and joy truck.” This 2001 Peterbilt 357, Tillman’s first new Peterbilt, is equipped with a Caterpillar C12, 18-speed transmission and 4.10 gears. The truck also has a Reliance transfer dump body used to haul rock products for Tillman Construction.
