The regulations prohibit tie-downs from being outside the rub rail.
IMPROVED BRAKE DRUM, FIFTH WHEELS
Consolidated Metco’s new brake drum, the TruTurn, is fully machined inside and out to create dimensional consistency and uniform wall thickness for improved performance. Because the drum is fully turned, there is no need for weld-on weights or balance cuts that can weaken standard drums; this means less potential for cracking, lower stopping temperatures, and more uniform distribution of temperature and braking force. ConMet has also improved its Simplex Fifth Wheels, including a new handle design, finer increments of slack adjustment and a retooled top plate that maximizes contact and extends product life.
