Hog-lover’s Dream

Months before the 2004 Pride & Polish Truck Beauty Show, Russ and Debbie Brown of Oklahoma City still were showing their white 1999 Freightliner Classic, despite its lack of glitter.

The Browns, show truck circuit veterans with Pride & Polish Best of Show winners Razor’s Edge and Pure Attitude, decided in August to totally revamp the rig in time for Pride & Polish the next month.

The result was “the ultimate Harley-Davidson truck,” Russ says. It was a Pride & Polish winner, as well: First, Conventional Bobtail, 1998-1999; and Third, Original Equipment Sleeper Interior.

“This new truck has been received so well,” Debbie says. “We weren’t expecting it to be so well thought of.”

The black-and-orange truck and its numerous authentic Harley touches, such as hood ornament handlebars and vintage Harley badges in place of Freightliner logos, were the buzz of the show. Inside, custom Harley brake valve covers and black leather complete the tribute. Much of the truck’s flair came from Harley stores across the country or through Debbie’s efforts on eBay.

“My Dad was a Harley driver in the 1950s,” Russ says. “I have a Fatboy that I love to ride, when I’m not driving. This truck is a perfect combination of both.”
